Why Mormonism? |

Many have been touched by knowing persons that are members of the LDS Church. I have been. Former neighbors of mine are LDS. Very fond memories. Discussions with those close to us naturally arise. Questions sometimes follow. The more I researched the teachings of Mormonism the more I realized that the teachings of the LDS Church deny and contradict the tenets of the Christian faith. Many across the world have been visited by young LDS missionaries wearing white shirts and black badges carrying the Mormon gospel from house to house. Their message, they say, is of Jesus Christ. But is it? That’s the purpose of this site. To compare Christianity to Mormonism. We are encouraged by LDS leaders to do so.
The LDS Church's membership has grown steadily during the 20th century. LDS T.V. commercials are becoming more common place. The LDS Church sends out a missionary force, appx. 56,000 strong as of this writing, to preach the gospel according to Mormonism. Such exposure has piqued the interest and attention of many in the Christian community. Currently, based on statistics made available by the LDS Church, approximately 250,000 people worldwide become members of the LDS Church every year. But if a more complete understanding of core LDS doctrines were made available to the general public, would those same converts make the same decision to join? I’m convinced they wouldn't. The LDS Church doesn’t readily reveal their own "deeper doctrines." As we (you and I) investigate the teachings of past and present leaders of the LDS Church, it’s my hope that you won’t come to believe that I’m out to attack another’s religion. Rather, it's my hope that you’ll come to understand that this ministry's motive is based on a heartfelt desire to reach the lost through comparison of that which the LDS Church claims is the "only true Christianity on the face of the earth" (their Church, that is) and the genuine gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s my hope that you won’t unfairly accuse this ministry of being bigoted, hateful or having as its primary goal the tearing down of other's beliefs. Rather, it's my hope that you'll understand that this ministry found its roots in those fond memories of former neighbors mentioned earlier. It's my desire to build people up in the gospel of Jesus Christ; not to tear them down. It’s my firm belief that those who join the LDS Church are deceived into believing doctrines that are very different from that of the Christian gospel. For example, according to several LDS leaders, God hasn't always been God (Psalm 90:2) but God supposedly became God by obedience to those principles, laws and ordinances that Mormons hold dear. Another example is the LDS teaching that rather than God being a pure and holy spirit (John 4:24), Mormonism claims that God possesses a body of flesh and bone and hails from a planet near a star Mormons call "Kolob." (Kolob is described in the uniquely Mormon Book of Abraham, ch. three). This ministry firmly believes that peoples of the world should remain free to believe and worship as they see fit. The issue this ministry takes with Mormonism is that Mormonism seeks to have its beliefs known as Christian. The interested readers will determine that for themselves. My mind is made. Is Mormonism Christian? No. God exhorts us to lift up the truth of the Bible and to employ that as the standard to know of God’s nature; His plan for our salvation; and His plan for our lives. God also exhorts us in the Bible to expose error. I find no pleasure in seeing people being led astray and leading other people in the same direction. I do this for one simple reason. Because people matter. The Bible is "a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path." Titus 1:9 "...holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict." Jude 3 "Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints." 1 Peter 3:15 "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,...."

Mormon Testimonies Turned to Christ Why Mormonism? That’s my King! (S M Lockridge) – free video "Jesus' blood on the altar was the ultimate payment. He made us worthy permanently. When Jesus died on the cross the veil covering the Holy of Holies tore in half. The mercy seat lay exposed to mankind. There is no veil, anymore, between God and man. Jesus ripped it down. But Mormonism has hung up a new one." -Kathleen Baldwin "I found myself buried under a mountain of doubt, after really investigating church doctrine and church history...and getting myself more familiar with the Bible. It was too much. I finally came out from under all of that and embraced Jesus Christ alone, which is all we really need. I was sad to leave the church. Very sad...but, relieved and happy to find my Savior in the process." More...
Editor's note: He Gave You Jesus
- by Justjo "Counterfeit, fake, bogus, imitation, forgery, fraud, copy.... We all recognize these words, as well as understand their meaning. There are many counterfeits out there. If they were easy to detect, they would not be called counterfeits. God gave us these wonderful books in the Bible to test these counterfeits. This is where we find our markers to detect them. The Holy Spirit does not contradict Gods word...." More...
