An ex-Mormon responds to the
assertion that apostates are "looking for an excuse to leave the LDS
church."
So, you know better than everyone else and when we tell you that
you were misinformed on LDS doctrine you defend all the crazy beliefs
you think represent LDS doctrine. Look, admit that you were looking to
leave the church and looking for excuses to leave and now you seemed to
dig some excuses together.
First, most of what we talk about here in
this forum is never discussed in church because it is not mainstream
doctrine. So it you grew up hearing about all the things you claim are
LDS doctrine which aren't then I am sorry that you were exposed to
people who speculated on what LDS doctrine was and speculated on what
soandso [sic] apostle said once.
You know, this is really pretty insulting. I left the church a year ago
for a combination of reasons (doctrine, history, Biblical incompatibility)
and it was heart-wrenching for me to have to make that decision, because I
loved the church and the people in it. I still have many good LDS
friends. I shed a lot of tears making that decision. and it certainly didn't
come from the attitude of "looking for an excuse" to leave. I was looking
for any good reason to stay! And I know this is true for many, many others
who have left the church.
You say many of the issues here are not discussed in church. This is true,
because a lot of issues discussed here are historical teachings/issues that
the church doesn't like to talk about. Like the fact that a supposed prophet
of God would teach a heresy (so-called by even another prophet of the
church) like Adam/God for 20+ years. Plus, all the other bizarre teachings,
especially on race, that were supposedly in effect for eternity. How does
that make Brigham a prophet, when he was so wrong about so many things? Even
the practice of polygamy was supposedly a requirement to get into the CK,
according to him. Yet, the LDS Church manual on Brigham Young doesn't even
mention that he was a polygamist. I have heard the excuse that the manual
focused on his teachings, not his personal life. Well, his teachings
included a lot of very strong proclamations about polygamy, like the above.
Polygamy was definitely a teaching of the church and the early prophets, and
yet, now those teachings are ignored as if they never existed. How can you
claim to "know" that Brigham or Joseph or John Taylor or any of the early
prophets were really prophets and then ignore some of their very "core"
teachings??
And that is just the very tiny tip of the iceberg, in regards to problems
with this church. There are some basic teachings about the nature of God
that, alone, should be enough for anyone to start questioning the
credibility of this church, if they are at all interested in the Biblical
teachings of Christ. I found myself buried under a mountain of doubt, after
really investigating church doctrine and church history...and getting myself
more familiar with the Bible. It was too much. I finally came out from under
all of that and embraced Jesus Christ alone, which is all we really need. I
was sad to leave the church. Very sad...but, relieved and happy to find my
Savior in the process.
I hope that you will not be offended by this letter, because I love the LDS
people, I really do. But, I love them enough to have to speak the truth
about the church. The LDS church is a lie from top to bottom. I pray that
you and all of my LDS friends will see that for yourselves one day. -Marsha

"Jesus' blood on the altar
was the ultimate payment. He made us worthy permanently. When Jesus died on the
cross the veil covering the Holy of Holies tore in half. The mercy seat lay exposed to mankind. There is no veil, anymore, between God and man.
Jesus ripped it down. But Mormonism has hung up a new one." -Kathleen Baldwin

He Gave You Jesus

"Counterfeit, fake, bogus,
imitation, forgery, fraud, copy.... We all recognize these words, as well as
understand their meaning. There are many counterfeits out there. If they were
easy to detect, they would not be called counterfeits. God gave us these
wonderful books in the Bible to test these counterfeits. This is where we find
our markers to detect them. The Holy Spirit does not contradict Gods word...."
